2. Textiles for Fashion Design
This subject provides a comprehensive understanding of textiles for fashion design, including fibers, yarns, woven vs. knitted fabrics, non-woven fabrics, dyeing and printing, finishing, most commonly used fabrics, and hand embroidery. Additionally, students gain an introduction to traditional textiles of India, adding cultural context to their understanding of textile materials and production.
3. Fashion Illustration
This subject teaches the art of drawing for fashion design, covering female fashion figure drawing, faces, hands, feet, poses, dressing figures in Indian and Western wear, coloring techniques, textures, and patterns. These skills are essential for designing and illustrating creative and visually appealing fashion designs.
4. Pattern Making
This subject provides a comprehensive overview of pattern making for women's wear, including drafting slopers for bodice, sleeves, and skirt. Students learn how to manipulate darts and create basic to advanced variations for bodices, collars, sleeves, and skirts. The course also covers draping techniques for fashion design and basics of pattern grading.
5. Garment Construction
This subject covers the basics of sewing machines and various techniques such as seams, seam finishes, facings, plackets, collars, cuffs, yoke attachment, sleeves, and pockets. Additionally, students will learn the drafting and construction of ethnic wear for women, including churidar, salwar, patiala, blouse, kurti, lehenga, and basic design variations. These skills are essential for creating well-fitted and aesthetically pleasing garments in the ethnic wear genre.
6. Computer Aided Fashion Design
This subject covers the basics of using Photoshop & Illustrator for fashion design, including creating mood boards, working with sketches, layouts, and rendering techniques. Students learn pattern basics, how to work with scanned fabric swatches, manipulate pattern fills, and draw flats. These skills are essential for creating digital designs, illustrations, and technical drawings, as well as for communicating ideas and concepts effectively in the fashion industry.
7. Boutique Management
This subject covers various aspects of managing a boutique business, such as business planning, location selection, buying and merchandising, sales and marketing, customer service, staff and financial management, business operations, visual merchandising, and e-commerce. It focuses on developing essential skills required for running a successful boutique, including market research, inventory management, staff training, and customer relations.
