WHAT YOU WILL LEARN?
1. Fashion Design Fundamentals
This subject covers the fundamental concepts of fashion design, including the elements and principles of design, market research, fashion forecasting, sources of inspiration, and the design process. It is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the key elements required to succeed in the fashion industry.
2. Textiles for Fashion Design
This subject provides a comprehensive understanding of textiles for fashion design, including fibers, yarns, woven vs. knitted fabrics, non-woven fabrics, dyeing and printing, finishing, most commonly used fabrics, and hand embroidery. Additionally, students gain an introduction to traditional textiles of India, adding cultural context to their understanding of textile materials and production.
3. Fashion Illustration
This subject covers a range of topics related to fashion illustration, including learning to draw, illustrating female, children and male figures, garment styles and details, model drawing, coloring and rendering techniques, and advance fashion illustration techniques. It also covers how to get inspiration for fashion designs and create a portfolio. In this subject, students will develop the skills needed to create professional-level fashion illustrations.
4. Pattern Making
This subject teaches the fundamentals of pattern making, including drafting a shoulder dart bodice sloper, straight sleeve sloper, straight skirt sloper, pant, and torso. Students learn about dart manipulation, bodice variations, sleeve variations, skirt variations, pant variations, torso variations, collar drafting, and advanced design variations, as well as draping techniques for fashion design. Additionally, students gain an understanding of pattern grading and marker planning, which are essential for creating patterns for different sizes and quantities. It also covers pattern making for menswear and childrenswear.
5. Garment Construction
This subject provides an extensive coverage of the basics of industrial and domestic sewing machines, as well as advanced techniques for drafting and constructing various types of garments. Students will learn how to create women's ethnic wear, western wear, and Indo western wear, as well as men's wear for all occasions and children's wear. The subject is designed to equip participants with the technical skills required to produce high-quality and visually appealing garments.
6. Computer Aided Fashion Design
This subject provides an in-depth understanding of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator for fashion design, covering techniques such as scanning artwork, creating mood boards, and rendering faces. It also includes working with scanned swatches, pattern fills, and textured fabrics. Students will learn how to draw flat illustrations, use the Pen Tool, and work with layers. The subject also covers Tuka Cad, including drafting, grading techniques, and generating markers for fabric cutting, as well as creating style reports.
7. Merchandising & Boutique Management
This subject, which encompasses both Boutique Management and Fashion Merchandising, covers a variety of important topics for individuals interested in pursuing a career in the fashion industry. Topics covered include business planning, location selection, buying and merchandising, sales and marketing, customer service, staff and financial management, business operations, visual merchandising, and e-commerce. In addition, students will gain an understanding of the fashion industry, market analysis and forecasting, budgeting, maintaining quality throughout the supply chain, textiles and fabrics, apparel production, quality control, business law, trademarks, copyrights, patents, contracts, and digital marketing.
