This subject covers the fundamental concepts of fashion design, including the elements and principles of design, market research, fashion forecasting, sources of inspiration, and the design process. 2. Textiles for Fashion Design
This subject provides a comprehensive understanding of textiles for fashion design, including fibers, yarns, woven vs. knitted fabrics, non-woven fabrics, dyeing and printing, finishing, most commonly used fabrics, and hand embroidery.
3. Fashion Illustration
This subject teaches the art of drawing for fashion design, covering female fashion figure drawing, faces, hands, feet, poses, dressing figures in Indian & western wear, coloring techniques, textures, and patterns. These skills are essential for designing and illustrating creative and visually appealing fashion designs.
4. Garment Construction
In this subject, students will be introduced to the fundamentals of sewing machines. Moreover, they will acquire knowledge and proficiency in designing and making traditional women's ethnic clothing, such as churidar, salwar, patiala, blouse, kurti, lehenga, and various design variations ranging from basic to advanced. These abilities are crucial for crafting perfectly tailored and visually appealing garments within the ethnic wear category.
5. Boutique Management
This subject covers a comprehensive range of topics related to managing a boutique business. It includes creating a well-structured business plan, finding the optimal location for the boutique, designing the store layout, effectively buying and tracking inventory, establishing efficient systems, hiring and managing staff, implementing marketing and promotional strategies, and preparing for the future growth and expansion of the boutique, all of which are essential for successfully running a boutique in today's competitive market.
